Tech FAQ

Where is my diesel feed from the tank?

  • Consult your installation manual or look in a repair manual for your vehicle.

How do I attach the PEX line to the rubber fuel line?

  • Cut the line and slip rubber line over hard plastic line. Clamp the rubber line over the PEX, being careful not to over tighten.

After installing my Greasecar kit, why can’t I get my vehicle started?

  • Use a Mity-Vac (or an equivalent vacuum pump) to pull fuel to the injection pump to prime the line. Make sure your battery has a fresh charge, and start your vehicle.

  • Many older Mercedes vehicles will most likely have a push-in primer pump to aide in this process. Pump primer until you feel resistance or encounter fuel leaking out of primer (with white spin-in primer).

Why is my tank/filter not getting hot after installation?

  • The most likely cause of this problem is simply air being trapped in the coolant system, and generally all it takes is a ten-minute drive around the neighborhood to get the coolant flowing. When doing so, however, keep an eye on your vehicle’s engine temperature to make sure the vehicle does not overheat.

  • Clamping off the hose running from the tee to the cabin filter will force coolant through your vegetable oil loop and aide in getting air out of the system. Be sure to refill the necessary amount of coolant in your expansion tank.

  • Double-check that your coolant hoses are routed correctly, with the hottest coolant from the engine going into your filter coil or flat-plate heat exchanger.

Why do I have stuttering/power problems when switching over to vegetable oil?

  • Check your vegetable oil filter and change it if necessary.
  • Check for air getting into your system with a piece of clear hose or by pulling your vegetable oil filter and checking for an air gap at the top of the filter.
  • A fuel line installed with a small-radius bend can kink or narrow the opening for fuel. Go through your hoses and make sure there are no areas where hoses are getting kinked.
  • Check to see if you have excessive vacuum in your tank. This can be remedied by cleaning out the vent on your fuel cap as shown in this article.
