George the Rabbit
I purchased this Rabbit Diesel from a guy in Central Maine. He had to get rid of it because his son didn't want a diesel. I drove it for about a month while finishing up saving money for a Greasecar kit. I purchased the kit in the summer of 2009 and installed it in about two days with the help of my friend Kris. Greasecar provided phone support when we ran into problems and got them figured out. I logged about 15,000 miles on this Greasecar kit with George. About 12,000 were grease miles. I was able to get all my grease for free from two restaurants in town and through craigslist ads. George and I drove to North Carolina and back once, being the highlight of his adventures on WVO. Thanks to regular oil changes and a diesel purge every few thousand miles, George stayed running strong. I added a flat plate heat exchanger in the winter months to help with warm ups and fuel temperatures. Unfortunately, George was hit from the rear in June of 2010 and pretty much totalled. Thankfully, the Greasecar kit was not damaged and I installed it in a 1980 Mercedes 300D. It was great having George to experiment with on grease, and I learned a lot about how the grease system works as well as diesel engines in general. There was a strong learning curve, but after that everything started to fall into place. I like the durability of the Greasecar system as well as it's user friendly features. I have experienced no serious problems with or from my grease system and plan on keeping this kit for a long time.
