Couple of us greasers here in South Fla.
we keep a low profile -as some of us have had to move due to the Condo Commando's and their cursade against everything.

you gotta love these old geezers with the gas guzzling Caddys and Hummers with "support Our troops" bumper stickers.

I'm in Venice -- & hoping to set up fpr WVO soon .... Do you use 2 tanks? I was thinking that perhaps with a veg-therm I could run 1 tank during the (10)warm months. Has anybody got any experience with a 50% mix? Would that require as much heating? Perchance I could run THAT thru a veg-therm during the warmer months ...

Yes, I have my original diesel tank (35 gal) and a nomad tank by greasel (180 gal) of WVO. My nomad is heated with the coolant from my engine and as soon as the temp. gets to 140, I switch to WVO 100% and just go..... Forget about 50% mix, it's not worth.... as soon as the WVO gets viscosity and heat, you will be ok....It is better to have both options always, diesel and WVO....go to my profile and send me an email with your number and I will be more than glad to give you more info about it....

Fabiop3 is correct. I am also here is South Fla & the 2 tank system is a much safer and better bet.
KISS principle.
-Start on Diesel,
-get up to 180 Ftemp,
-switch to veggie
-Reverse process 5 minutes before stopping.
-Repeat

My only issue has been with the soilniod driven 3 way valves. The seals tend to not hold to well and have caused me some headaches. A few more bucks for the motor driven 3 or 6 way valves are worth the lack of problems

Hello FL, I am new to this idea and want to pursue it. I am not very mechanically inclined but I do have a checkbook and am willing to share my money with someone who is able to convert an old Chevy truck over to oil. Can anyone help me or tell me where I might find a mechanic who does these?

I'm located in Tampa. I'll have the truck at the end of the week, after driving it back from CT. Your pretty far away but if anyone knows of someone close, or reasonably so, to Tampa I would appreciate the help.

Bass Man, most of these kits make it pretty easy. The hardest part of my install was to run the
lines from the tank around the exhaust, driveline and other potentially damaging obstacles to the
filter. Everyone seems to get to figure out the best route for themselves. Get the car on a lift -
it'll make the install much easier. Finding a place under the hood for the filter was another challenge.

I'm logging 500 miles a week on grease now - I'm making the commute from Brookesville to Tallahassee
every week for work. It's worked well for the last 2 weeks (since installation) - I'm up to 1000 miles
so far.

I'm up in Spring Hill, not too far away. If you want to inspect my setup in my Benz, you are welcome to.

Hey guys, good that we can exchange opinions on this forum. I was the one that opened this topic, I wanted to know who is burnning oil in the area. My issue here is that the topic is going into another direction, to conversations about other issues that makes everybody confused. Please if you want to talk about other issues, open a new topic, it will be much easier to find solutions on whatever the topic is.... I have comunicated with other greasers going in to the profile and sending them emails to contact . DON"T GET ME WRONG ON THIS, I AM JUST TRYING TO MAKE THIS WORK.... If your email is not on your profile, go back there and place it ... I may be contacting you... I travel all over and I will be more than glad to stop by, have a beer and exchange info...
Thanks and keep on burnning oil....

I have a great source of oil, you probably haven't heard of the place since you're so far away, it's a little country resturant called the Farmers Opry House, they use their oil for about two weeks (but they are only open on Friday & Saturday nights, so the oil is in really good condition).... unfortunately I still don't have my car converted! Hopefully I will be getting that done very, very soon.

Fabio, I'm in Cocoa, Fl very close to Cape Canaveral, 45 minutes east of Orlando. I have about 2,500 miles on my 83 Mercedes 300D on grease, so far,so good. I bought my system and lots of help with the install from Morgan Crawford from the St. Pete area. I think his kit is much better than the greasecar system since it includes a filter on the fly system, no need to take dirty oil home and mess with pooring it through sock filters and all that. His website is; www.veggiepower.org He got his Master's degree in this and is now working on his PHD. His email address etc.. is on his website, you can also read his Master's thesis there as well.

I am in Oldsmar and I would like to get a diesel in order to convert it to veggie oil. I have the summers off (I teach at a private school here in Tampa). About all I can do mechanically, however, is put oil in my car when it runs low. Is there someone in the area who would be willing help me out?

Go to www.veggiepower.org This guy, Morgan Crawford does installs in the Tampa area as well as North Carolina (he goes back and forth between the 2 places, he's working on his PHD at NC in alternative fuels etc..) His email is there on his website. I think he's in Tampa area right now.

1 tank, I am narrowing my search for my greasecar but now am worried about fuel. you said you had an unlimited supply of oil in clearwater. Does this place have the filtration devices there at the site or do we have to filter at home? I own a triplex on Ft. Harrison and am very familiar with Clearwater. Is it close to Oldsmar or Alt. 19? Near the beach? Thank you for all of your help by the way. I am anxious to make this work.

I was heading south from Orlando during the first hurricane to hit the Palm Beach area last year - there was a line of traffic all the way up from Miami - stopping at each gas station along the turnpike. I was driving my Benz - pre-grease conversion, stopping to fill at the diesel pumps... There was never any line and no rationing! It was great - for the diesel vehicles. It really must have sucked for the gas swilling crowd.
