I have been reading posts about running MBZs on grease w/o kits and much talk about the heat exchanger from www.biodieselsupply.com. But that site has many heat exchangers, can anyone point out which one?

And does anyone have pics or good descrips of where and how to install it?

I have an 85 300Dt. Thanks for the help.

I have a 1983 300D with the big baby blue heat exchanger from biodieselsupply.com located on the drivers side wheel well. Awesome heat exchanger but bigger than I really need [esp. in Fla.].

Big baby blue? would that be the $69 one, or one of the two more expensive ones? Does it look like a tube or a major organ (like a heart)? Having ordered the wrong part too many times online, I need to avoid that :)

I ordered the 5" stainless $69.99 for my 1984 300TD and it works well.

Sorry, the $69 Modine Fuelmaster, I'd go with something smaller like the stainless steel one because it would be easier to install.

Or you could just make you're own heat exchanger. Like a short little hose within a hose under the hood.

Hey One-Tank. I picked up the smaller heat exhanger from biodiesel supply. Where did you get the tee fittings to plumb in into the coolant lines? I've got a great source of WVO now and have been running 50/50 until I get the heat exchanger installed. I'm filtering down to 1 micron, and the stuff just pours through, abeit slowly. When I pick up the oil, it looks like honey, so it's a good source. Makes people hungry when I drive down the road.

You should be able to get Tee's at any auto store. Just ask at the parts counter for Heater Hose Tee's either 5/8 or 3/4 inch is ususlly standard.
