So thanks to U.S. Customs I have to remove the Greasecar kit from my truck but problem is that I am in Japan and truck is in California so my friend has to do it all without my help. He has everything off except the fuel bowl. I did the install about 2-3 years ago and I remember that the fuel pressure regulator comes off the fuel bowl and gets put on the greasecar block but thats all I remember. I have the manual but its in boxes that I dont have access to. I searched for the manual online and could not find it anywhere. I have to do the exact same thing to my 2000 Jetta but I think that may be a lot easier but who knows, I may need the manual after all for that too.

Just wonder how that happened??????
You drove the truck across the US boarder (like to Canada)??????

Or are you trying to ship the truck out of US??????

I have had this question long time ago.

I have driven my 86 MB to Canada and back many many times with no problems. Of course nobody  asked me if I was running on wvo and my car was never searched. I have family near Niagra Falls and visit often. I fill my trunk with 8 cubbies, from Pa and back with wvo to spare, no diesel.
Anyone ever have a problem with customs either side?  what could they do, take it from you?

I have crosses the US/Canada border with no problems at all.  But for the OP, I don't see the problem going from California to Hawaii?  Why does the kit have to be removed?

Did they inspect your truck/car?
If not then there would be no problem.
Just wondering what if they inspect my truck and find the truck is loaded/half loaded (+ empty cubes) with used cooking oil.

Yes that link helps a little but I really need the manual or the pages for the fuel bowl to explain what fittings need to come off the block and be put back on the oem fuel bowl.

For the thread jackers: Obviously you cant drive to Hawaii so because the truck goes on a ship and may have a few stops before entering the port in Oahu it will need to be inspected. Nothing can be in the truck unless it came from the factory with it. To show how anal they were when it was inspected they made me turn the truck on and take every cd out of the cd changer, the floor mats and all the change and place it in a cardboard box then tape it up and sign an inventory sheet. When the inspector saw the tank then the lines it was hell on earth so they made me take truck back home.

So you can't ship a modified car, a custom car or a hot rod?  How about an old car that's had lots of repairs along the way?
How about removing the obvious grease stuff on the vehicle?  Could you leave the fuel bowl, just remove the tank, valves, switches and pumps?  Plug any extra openings?
Are there no ships that go directly from California to Hawaii? You shouldn't have to deal with customs shipping a car within the country.

You will never understand or believe it until you go through it. I have to remove everything, I cant remove the obvious because then the lines will be left open. Its easier to put it back to stock.

I believe you, I'm just shocked.  Especailly if it is transportation for a military move. Has anyone else on here ever shipped a modified vehicle?

Find a ship that goes direct service. Or put it in a container. Im at the Ports every day they usually only check for 1/4 tank of fuel or less. Many trucks go overseas with transfer tanks in the bed , lift kits and such things. You got a idiot checker that is clueless .
I just dropped off a rail buggy with boxes full of spare parts in the cab no issues.

Got curious and asked at port about fuel tank and system in a truck. Answer I got was as long as tank is mounted and empty it can go as part of vehicle. Don't call it a wvo system it confuses people. It's a aux diesel tank for long trips and all will be fine.

And take the copilot box off the dash. There's weird laws about shipping computer technology.
They even suggested put truck in container then it only goes thru xray and rad scanner.
