Greetings all..........

Just acquired a 300SDL and plan on doing the WVO addition.

Before I go too crazy with the car I would like to get a few little items taken car of. Shade Tree Mechanic style.

My questions are:

Who seems to be a reliable source (not ebay) for the Service Manuals on CD??

Of the many M-B forums out there - which one(s) seem to be among the best??

Thank You in advance for your time.

Stephen

Can't say that I've visited all of them but, the following is the one I've found most useful.

Just click on archive & then select the year & then select the month.

Smoooth... I recently purchased a 1981 300SD and have found a company out of Arizona which has the best price for Mercedes parts. I compare them to eBay all the time and they are very competitive. They are called German Star and the web site is www.germanstar.net. I purchase all my filters and maintenance items from them. Hope this helps.

I just looked at the german star site. Not bad on some of the prices. You just have to watch it. Some of their parts are outrageously expensive. I have found locally that advance auto parts carries the filters and a lot of the routine maintenance parts in stock. I would also look at Mercedessource.com for info for Do It yourself tinkerers and maintenance kits. His prices are reasonable. The Haynes Diesel Mercedes book is good too.

Have found out from Richard Sexton that the old url I provided in my original post is no longer valid. This is the proper url to use now: http://diesel.list.archives.mbz.org/
