Cool pics. How does the Mister Funnel factor in? I saw them online but they just seemed like a gimmick. .5 microns really?

The funnel is .005 inch or about 170 microns, it is not a gimmick but a good prefilter for heated oil, the basket is my prefilter for unheated oil right out of the jug. This system is simple and set up in my kitchen because at the time of my conversion it was -10 outside.

Justgreasenofries....I just purchased a GE Smartwater filtration GXWH08C but was wondering where to get the filters for this unit. Your pictures show a string wound Omnifilter, but I have been unable to locate such a filter. Can you point me in the right direction?

Try:

Home Depot
Lowe's or
Menards

you can also order them on-line at www.McMaster.com

Mr Green Bean is correct, I get mine at Menards it is a store similar to lowes or home depot, I pay 3.29 for the pack of two.

So you initially pour the heated oil through the metal strainer and then through the MrFunnel before starting the pump and filter process. I saw the Mrfunnel pictures but I wasn't sure where or when it came into play. Is it a prefilter?

Thanks,
Tim

Justgreasenofries,
I would like to see the info on your filtering setup. Seeing the picture would be great, but I need the knowledge of how to build a filtering setup from someone who has done it for a while successfully.
My e-mail is drdawg@bellsouth.net if you would not mind sharing your wealth of knowlege.

Thanks, Duane

So this may be a little off topic... and maybe a better question for the webmaster...

Maybe it is time for a new forum area that focuses on issues of filtration and collection of WVO? Perhaps this area could even allow attchments (so we can share pictures)?

What do others think?

Please send me all images of your filter setup. I have a 1982 diesel westfalia and think your images would be very helpful.

By the way, are you using the stock VW diesel fuel filter?

Thanks

Thomas

I looked at your setup.....couple of questions.

the MrFunnel...wouldn't that be used after the strainer...and after the "house water filter" to remove the last bit of water and contaminants? What model "string bound filter" are you using...i tried looking for "RS5-DS" and can't find that filter...not even on their site. Is there a replacement that is an exact replacement...and is this filter good enough to be the only form of filtration for the oil before use in the car?
