1. What size (i.d.) is the blue hose and what was it made for originally?
2. Are the hose clamped connections leak free? i.e., will the sucker hold vaccum overnight?
3. Do you pump the grease out the same hose?

1. blue hose is a pool hose 1.5 inc I.D.

2. yes they are leak free and i just went out there and opened the valve seems to still have exect vacuum as yesterday

3. no the two valves in that one picture come from the bottom so i can pressurize and discharge (i always liked having veg in the top seems it sucked faster instead of it coming in the bottom)

The kind of pool hose you have (I have the same except 1.25" id) is inexpensive and super flexible but won't hold full vacuum. Mine will start to collape if kept under constant vacuum of 22" hg. But my diesel's vac pump won't pull more than 22" hg so it works out ok.

So you cut the cuffs off and hose clamped it? I was considering doing that when I redid mine to replace the PVC ball vave with a brass one and in the end decided against it because I felt cutting and clamping will weaken it and I wasn't sure if it will seal properly.

my hose is from lowes it a bit prices and its thicker than most pool hoses i was doubting it would work seeing your past post but it will hold 28 HG vac but my truck only makes about 16-17 inc of vac

i didnt cut nothing just claped right on top of it i found a small leak a second ago i cant get to go away think its the plastic barb going to get a metal one and fix it other than that its great and i just wanted to post pics for newbies who want to see one 604 post a pic of yours wouldnt hurt i have seen alot of post on websites about how to make suckers figured id post one here

I got mine from Lowes also. Is yours made by Aqua EZ?

Is it this one?

Mine is the same except the smaller i.d. one at 1.25"

M pool hose has slip fit vacuum hose cuffs (non threaded) on both ends. I don't see those on yours. In your pics it looks like the blue hose goes into a threaded adapter into the ball valve. Where is the cuff?

OK I know what you got. That's a thicker hose than mine and will hold full vac. I think they call it "spa hose"?

This is what mine look like after redoing it. It is more compact and more streamlined and the brass valve is much easier to open than the PVC one that it replaced.

Photobucket cut off about half the pic! Anyway to prevent that? To see the full pic try this link.

I think it is Greasecar's stupid s/w that is cutting out half the pic from Photobucket. They have a lot of work to do to fix all these forum quirks. Your photos have a lot of it missing also.

try this

super nice. now just add heat so when you get home the veggie is hot and add 3 - 5 mic filters to the output...i would do a salt filter before the 5 mic filters and you have a 1 stop set up.......

you could put salt in one of those small LP tanks and add that to the pick up hose. that way the nasty veggie gets dewater and somewhat clean before it goes into the holding tank.

What did you use for your tank, and how many gallons is it? We need something like that for our business. Because using a trash pump is getting way to load, and smelly.

yes it is a lp tank there nice most of the ones i got have a guage on them so i can tell how full the tank is (ill post a picture in a second)

brian yes you got alot of ideas i might try some of them for you.... only concern with salt in pick-up i think the sucker would suck the salt up it has a big flow rate 55 gallons in around 2 mins warn about 3-4 in cold weather... give me a design you think would work and ill try it

wow you will have to put the salt filter on the out and not the in. as far has heat you can cut a hole and install black steel pipes and connect to car/truck hot water so when you get home the veggie is hot. just a thought but maybe salt in the big holding tank with a drain?

well i dont wanta heat it really but the salt thing is making my brain cells work...salt just traps water around it right? and in a high flow it wouldnt work would it?

yes it works in all flow. the faster the flow the more salt is needed. you cold use the small LP tank filled with salt. flow veggie from bottom to top and then into filters. the salt also filter junk not just water. kind of like a sand filter on a pool
