Touareg
Hello,
I've tried searching around online about a veggie oil conversion kit for a Touareg with a 3.0 L V6, but havn't found anything. Is there a reason why this vehicle isn't suited to a conversion?
Thanks
They have at least 3 models:
2.5 R5 TDI
3.0 V6 TDI
5.0 V10 TDI

Do they sell all those diesels here?

Phil, check out the above link for details. They have 2 generations. Some models are not sold here.

I think it's doable. If I have a truck like that I would do it.
The reason that there is no kit out there could be:
There are not many trucks out there here in USA.
The truck is too expensive to play with veggie.
So the market is very limited.

From the Wiki, it sounds like the V6 TDI was only sold here in the last few years (I'm assuming the OP is in the US?) which means you probably have the same problems as the new Jettas. Which pretty much means you can't do it. Not that I am discouraging anyone form trying - give it a shot and let us know, but I thik it will be very difficult.
So what is actually the problem of the new Jetta?
Emission system problem?
The OP is in Canada BC.

On the US cars, and I'm just guessing the Canadian ones are the same, there is a periodic injection of extra fuel. If this excess fuel is diesel, it burns off in the particulate filter, but biodiesel and VO do not. The car senses this and goes into limp mode; eventually I think it will shut down.
VW allows 5% biodiesel in these cars. Some folks have experimented with larger percentages and not had good luck. It is possible that a computer reprogram could eliminate this, but I have not heard of anyone doing it.
Thank you for light me up.
Good to know the info.
How about bypass the particulate filter? Doable?
OK. check out the following link:

Looks like it's doable.

That's a great link - thank you. And reassuring to see someone has already figured out the computer. Reading what he says about replacing the DPF, I might be tempted to delet it even if I was not going to run WVO. I wonder what a new DPF costs from Volkswagen?
So maybe the Taureg is doable. But it is still a pretty expensive thing to repair.
Hey, are we the only two people left on this forum?
How about Geasecar - are you planning a kit for the new VWs?
