This year is the year of cutbacks.... but I've been getting calls and emails from friends re GS '09. ie 604TD and Donniej all the way from PH. A guy came by today from "fill it up 4 free" and I gave him 150 or so gallons of preemy oil. I guess we're not alone in this world of $2.00/gallon gas. I'm up to it if yuz guyz r up to it. Greasestock started with Batteryboy saying, "hey, we should all meet somewhere and have a BBQ". Well here we go again if your all up to it. No politics, just beer and bbq. Who needs a day of fun?? I do, I do. Um Mike T, Real Murph, Phil, Pastor Dave, Charlie E.......Even You Chase>>>>Brian i've got super dry oil for you if you'll make the trip this year. Dave call me!

BBQ would be nice, but in keeping with the general theme of the forums, shouldn't we do a fish fry?!?!

Slatemd - I've seen IBC totes at the local potato chip factory. Any food manufacturers near you?

never been but heard about them, where is Greasestock held?

if your passing through the KC (Kansas City) area there are a couple guys here that usually have a number of 275 gallon totes.

Thanks R.N. Ill keep that in mind if my travels brings me close to your area.

Greasestock was located in Yorktown New York (I believe).

45 minutes north of the Bronx via the Saw Mill River Parkway.

This may help you.

The last time I checked, using the firehouse was fine, all I need is a firm-ish date and I'll reserve the grounds.

...not to hijack your thread here guys, but I figured I'd put the word out that we're planning on having a few events at our new shop this summer. The first is likely going to be early may and another later in the summer...bbq/car show/swap meet/etc, etc. I'll start up a new thread when we have final dates set.

cheers,

JP I wouldn't miss it for the world! I have been checking this forum every 3 days or so for this reason only! Believe it or not I was let go from my job at Hyde Park Motors the day after Christmas. After 27 & 1/2 years! No warning at all, no offer of any help or severance! I was even told that my health insurance for myself and my family would expire December 31st. Well, after being unemployed for a month, I was offered a job with Amenia Motors in Amenia, New York. At Amenia Motors we sell and service Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and 3 different makes of neighborhood electric vehicles...Gem, E-Ride, and Zenn! Maybe things do work out for the best! I have been wanting to get more involved with green energy over the last few years! Would you mind if I drive down in my 1998 Dodge Cummings Vegmobile and trailer down a Zenn Electric Car? I think folks might be interested to check one out and drive it! Amenia Motors has given me one as a demo and my wife has been driving it all over Red Hook....She Loves It! Hope to see you all soon! If there is a solar exhibit at GreaseStock 09', you should network with them to have a panel to charge a Zenn. This way people dont load up that coal fired plant to drive their Zenn.

how about may 17th or 24th or 31st? everyone start voting.
murph, we have to have it here so I can sleep until 11:30.
This year will be like it was in the early days. I don't expect the same massive turn out as last year. I've got commitments from about 12 greasers including three new friends who came from fillupforfree. The call from 604TD and Donniej's email did it for me though. if they're up to the travel time to visit friends then I'm game as well. Even you Chase, and greasestock wouldn't be the same w/o the slate doc. Mike T, things always happen for a reason. Steve tells me the burner head worked great through the winter. I asked him to plan on making one for me this summer for my 1930's boiler. I await orders.

JP, My new job requires me to work 6-10 hour days a week right now. As you know with today's economy the new car business is pretty tough right now! Luckily, my day off is Sunday! Any of those 3 days would be fine with me. If any of you folks, your family, or your friends are in the market for a new Chrysler, Dodge, or Jeep - please give me a call or email. I could sure use the help right now! My dealership is located fairly close to the metro area- we are on Route 22 just a bit north of the 684 & 84 intersection. Thanks!!!

Ok, The date of Greasestock '09 was ratified by the Croton Heights Car Club(The Founding Organization) with 6 members in attendance to be the 24th of May. The day b4 Memorial Day. The plan is: I have a 6' grill and plenty of Ice. You all bring what you like to eat and drink. I'll supply BBQ ribs, a keg of locally brewed pale ale and a few goodies. The Members in attendance were: Me-VOTech system, Rudy Spadaro-Greasecar system, Frank A. Custom Frybrid System, Jason-Highly Custom System, JB-VOTech System and others. I checked and the weather will be fantastic. I expect you all to do your duties and show up. We need to keep this thing alive, so your attendance is required. This means YOU!!!

I don't know how much promotion and effort you want to put into this, but my reoccurring suggestion of involving any area EV owners is now very serious. The Chevy Volt and others are getting a lot of hype this year after the various auto shows. Its in the general public's mind now. If there are any EV clubs in the area, get them there and then promote to the local news outlets. WVO is kind of tired as far as the media is concerned, but EVs and EREVs are all the rage.

You could also rework the logo/bumper sticker to have a lightning bolt through it. :)

Chase-have you ever been to it? Space is quite limited -with just greased cars in the parking lot spectators were parked quite far up + down the (narrow) road. Its a good size just the way it is. And since JP Promised good weather, the turnout will be just fine.

This year I just want to hang and have a good time with all the friends we've made over these past 7 or so years. And what would a year be w/o seeing Batteryboy dave? This year Greasestock will be about us. Wait till you taste these ribs with Big Al's BBQ Sauce.

JP, The burner has been running real well! I get 300 hours between cleanings! We have been using it since August for 100% of our heating and hot water needs. We have typically in the past used about 800 gallons of heating oil annually. Since August we have used NO HEATING OIL at all. It has been 100% veggie. It does require a little more work with burner cleanings every 300 hours and collecting and filtering more veggie oil, but De and I are VERY HAPPY! Steve really knows his stuff! See you on the 24th!

Seeing as my truck has been sold, will I be allowed on the property if I show up in my gasser Jeep? Or will I need to park down on 118 and hike up the hill :)

The conversion on my truck is completely custom. I sized the SS tank to fit in the truck box. I also Designed a SS mounting bracket for the engine area. It has a hotfox, hoh, greasekings filter, FPHE, vegtherm, 2-3 way valves looped greasecar style, and a timer for purge.

The engine is the "2L" engine 2.4L (stock). It is non-turbo making it fairly slow. Its a great truck though and loves veggie. Even in the dead of winter it maintains high vo temps.
