I'm new to this whole idea and it intrigues me. My car is fairly old and i will be needing a new one soon anyway. What cars work for this type of conversion (as i don't know what cars run deisel, thought only big trucks were). Would it be better to buy a new or used car, and what are the long-term results of this? A car is vital to my life, as it takes me to my job which i need to pay my bills, so I don't want to risk too much. Anyway, i just want as much info as i can get right now... Thanks!

Hey Jen

The site has some good ideas about diesel autos which are ideal for WVO... the VWs and Mercedes are really popular in this kind of endeavor. Also, the large pickups from Ford, Dodge, etc. are diesel burners.

I, too, am waiting for my current wheels to die, and then I will make the switch to WVO! (Wish I could do it now, but it is cost prohibitive while in school...)

Good luck!

I know they're as rare as rocking hose poop on your side of the pond, but my Rover 420 Di has been ideal. I'm hoping next to get some kind of small diesel powered camper van. Gotta be a dubdub of some sort.

Diesel Dick, my man, you drive a diesel Rover??!!

Uh, excuse my drool, but that is my dream machine, right there. My first truck after school will be a Disco-Series-1, into which I shall have the good people at East Coast Rover install a Rover 300 TDi. They do a tremendous job...

Wow, that tidbit made my night, right there. And no problems with the WVO in your Rover motor?
