I am going to be writing a feature called "Who's Who in Waste Vegetable Oil Fuel Innovation" and I'd like everyone's input.

Please respond to this post with your ideas for who should be considered for this feature. After a while I'll then place all the names in a poll and let everyone rank them. The plan is to take the top 12 names and write a feature on one each month for a year on a new site that I am starting, wvo-news.com.

Feel free to nominate whoever, but it should be people who make large contributions to the community on a national scale.

-Kristopher

Don't forget Rudy D.

The list should include folks that have made contributions to the industry as well as the movement. It's two fold. There are true innovators as well as advocates. People like BM and OT press the envelope on the side of lo-tech and people like the VO controller guy who press the opposite edge. All the Mfgr's of kits and systems. need to be on the list. Both the mean ones and the nice ones. People like our county Supervisor Andy Spano who boldly go where bureaucrats won't are the ultimate advocates by commissioning up to 20 vehicles to run on grease. 5 on the road today.

Please take Lovecraft off the list. Unless this list will have both the top most influential, and the bottom most counter-productive.

I'm going to go ahead and put in GreaseKings. They took up where Fattywagon left off with the filter housing. The GreaseKings Filter has worked for me well so far.

thank you all very much. But i would rather not be in print. if you want you can say you know someone who has over 200,000 veggie miles. 190,000 veggie miles on my 97 powerstroke now. chase, 9 more weeks and i will be over 200,000 just on that truck. i have another 97 powerstroke just waiting in the driveway for me to start using it. but i have to wait till i hit 200,000 with the red truck.

Please do not put Veg Powered Systems on any positive list. This is based solely on his spot on the series Invention Nation.

Unless that was some aberration and he is actually 100% different than he was on that day. Kinda like Spock with a goatee.

I would like to place my company in the race, we do everything from collect grease from local clients, to selling biodiesel, to installing greasecar kits. Small companys like DieselGreen Fuels will one day help people more away from diesel all together.

Thanks

Thank you all for your thoughts and comments. Please keep posting them as they come to you!

As points of clarification, we want people who are working on straight VO fuel technology, not BioD. Also, I am interested in people alive and contributing today much more than people from the past.

I've included everyone nominated (even if they are dead or even if people are vocal about their bad reputation) in the following list, and I'll continue to grow it for a while longer. Then I'll compose the actual poll and post it to let everyone vote.

Here is the list as it currently stands:
Ludwig Elsbett
chris goodwin (frybrid)
Dana Linscott
brian freedman (lovecraft)
3egmbh.com
Ed Beggs (NeoTeric / Plantdrive)

I've got a few nominees:

Justin Carven and Greasecar for getting this whole idea into the public conscience and marketing a high quality kit.

Daryl Beck for making cler sense of installation.

Wally Little of VOTech (votechusa.com) for his elegant upgrade and his development of the "Geo," an all-in-one filter-heater-valve housing.

Scott (shmcquilkin on this board) for his clear explanation of the "Rocki-Mod," the rerouting of Greasecar's plumbing to assure faster heat-up times. See it at: http://www.greasecar.com/forum_topicview.cfm?frmtopicID=9280

Jon Pratt, who hosts the annual Greasestock at his restaurant, Peter Pratt's Inn, in Westchester County, NY.

I'd include Joshua Tickell. He is mostly a BioD guy but definitely a pioneer in WVO, runs www.veggievan.org, www.biodieselnation.com, wrote From The Fryer to the Fuel Tank, brought the movie Fields of Fuel ro Sundance and if you ask almost anyone in the WVO business they've read his books.
