Wiring and fuel/oil line schematics '80 volvo or similar vintage VW
Hi there Greasecar community, how are you? A year or so ago I bought a '80 volvo with the D24 diesel in it and he had a greasecar set up in the car, apparently he drove it from Connecticut to California on one tank of diesel and the rest was veggie oil, however once he got to California, he felt the urge to replace all of the fuel lines and he put them in wrong and never drove the car again. So here I sit with a now running car but I had to bypass all of the veg oil valves to do so, so I was curious if some blessed soul out there happened to know what color wires connect where and where the hoses run and would be willing to share them with me so I can get this machine up to par. Apparently the schematics for a similar vintage vw would work just as well since they are basically the same motor minus 2 cylinders. Any help would be apprieciated, thank you!

There is a post looking for GC members in Northern CA (your area) that might help. Look over the list and contact the individuals. It would be nice for the GC Forum to provide PMs so we, the members, can cantact individuals rather than cover the whole forum with questions. GC Administrator: Any Help HERE?
Hi Phil, how are you? Let's see, I don't know how old my kit is, however it does look pretty much identical to the ones showed on the website and the controller is electronic and hooks up with that squarish usb plug. My wires are color coded, but with your little bit of info regarding the the valves, I'm pretty sure I can figure figure it out. diesel to port A) oil to port B) and port C) to fuel pump. Return line to second switch port C) with diesel return port A) and oil return port B). Both port A's) stay open until oil is turned on making both port B's) open, then in the purging process switch one port A) opens and on the second switch port B) stays open until diesel flushes back into the oil return line... and I can find out which switch is which by testing the wires under the purge setting... does that sound right? I apprieciate your offer for faxing or mailing that manual, though I think with your help here I got it figured out, however if it does turn out that I need the manual, I will gladly work something out with you on paypal or something to pay for shipping and whatever you want for the manual. Anyway, thank you, I will update this over the weekend to let you know if it works.

Can you post how many wires go to the controller and the colors of them?
Also can you identify all the GC components on your car and post it?
You should two 3-way valves, an heat exchanger for VO filter, a "T" connector, may be a VO pump, a coolant temp sensor
a VO temp sensor, a VO tank, an aluminum filter tee.
May be I can help to figure it out.

I don't know how to post a diagram, but do have a Greasecar installation manual from about seven years ago. If it is the right one, I could mail or fax you the diagram. Do you know how old your kit is? Does it have an electronic controller, what kind of switches does it have and do the valves look like the ones Greasecar is selling now?
Wires, at least on my kits, were not color coded. But it should be pretty easy to figure out the wiring. With the system on diesel, all valves are un-powered. (That will also tell you how the diesel plumbing goes. It should flow right through the normally closed position on the valves.) On VO, both valves are activated. On purge, only the return valve is activated. That should get you started.
Make sense?
