wvo scum
I have a barrel of wvo that seems to be fermenting or something like that. It is in the sun and during the day gets a bubbly scum on top. I have yet to filter this. Will this hurt the end product. thanks Gary

Yeh it was from their barrels, They won't leave it in the cubies because of the health board checks. I havn't done anything to it yet. One guy told me to filter and drain off the water and put in some baking soda to stop the fementation. Do you think that would work. This is my only source of wvo. Thanks

Hey GP--
I think ya have to ask Forrest who uses a buttload of veg cawz I'm sort of spoiled - get the oil poured back in the cubies with minimal spooge!!
I guess try filtering it and see if it looks clear.. @ 50 deg F
If not I would be a littel paranoid of runnin it.

To rehab the amount you have, go to a boat store, or order online from West Marine, a bottle of ValveTek biocide antimicrobial, about $15.00. It doesn't take much and works in 3 to 4 hours to kill bacteria. Then you can filter your oil and use it okay.

Karen, thanks for the info. Living in Fl. I shouldn't have a problem finding biocide. I will try it. Gary

Hey GP,
Was the oil from a grease bin or poured from the cubies??
test for water.. Try pumping from the middle -- Then let it settle.. If it smells nasty then chuck it . Its not worth the bother.. Any oil that smells nasty is usually crappy oil!1
