I am moving the greasecar kit from my old car (2000 beetle ) to my new older car (1987 300d). on the Mercedes  I realized that the mechanical lift pump is before the injection pump. The Diesel Fuel Filter is in between them. how do you bypass that filter when running wvo?? I was planning on going from the VO tank to heated VO filter three way valve, then ???? This the only time I would probably say VW was easier. Thanks for any assistance and pictures probably help a ton.

I would say hook up the diesel filter before the mech lift pump and hook up the 3-way valve "A" between the diesel filter and the mech lift pump. The mech lift pump will be sucking (instead of pushing) through the diesel filter or VO filter. The output of the lift pump will be connected directly to the injection.

first, the small plastic fuel filter shouldn't be between them.......
it goes like this....... diesel fuel from the tank goes to the plastic filter.... then to the big spin type filter.... then to valve A no (normally open) port
veggie come from tank to veggie filter to valve A nc (normally close) port
valve A comon port goes to pre-heater..... lift pump.......injector pump
(on the big spin fuel filter.... look for the arrows on top..... one line comes in and the other goes out of the filter)
on the return line coming from the fuel injectors and the return from the injector pump........ that banjo bolt most be replaced with solid bolt so that some of the return fuel does NOT go back to the spin filter....... from that juction the line goes the the common port on B valve...... open port to diesel return line to tank..... close port to feed veggie line before veggie filter. (their is no return veggie line to the tank, so you are making a loop.

Thanks for the detailed explanation...it makes clear sense now. Will the lift pump handle sucking the fuel through the filter? I like the way you explained both systems sparatly and then brought them together. I will start the conversion early next week and post if I have any more questions. If all goes well, I will post pictures also.

Should not be a problem.
