Leaking air fix = valves

I?ve had two clients in the last week come in with air leaks only on the wvo side of the system. So I did my normal vacuum pump checks on all the connections and replaced all the hose clamps and fuel lines that aren?t j30r9 (biodiesel hoses). And there was the air leak right at the valves, but the hose connections are just fine. So I tighten down the large round screw at the top of each of the valves and the power lose goes away. This was the cause on both cars that came in.

Normally I find leaks at the wvo filter housing or at the water drain valve at the bottom of the wvo filter. Second would be the hose clamps are starting to fail because of the heat and movement.

Just wanted to give something back to the forum for all the help you have provided me over the years. So if anyone else has something to add about air leaks in the system please help out and type away.

Keep on grease?n

Michael

Sounds similar to a problem w/ my wife's VW Beetle...

My wife VW Beetle is acting strangely - when we shut it off, it immediately sucks air and has to crank for 5-10 seconds to restart. When running it is perfect. We disconnected the greasecar system (put the car back to stock) and the problem disappeared. Reconnected the system (with new solenoids, BTW) and the problem reappears.

Any ideas??? Help would be MOST appreciated!!!

So it sounds like your sucking in air someone where you just need to find out where. One thing I use is a brake bleeder pump with a small tube to catch the wvo in. This will allow you to find out where the leak is. Do you have a fphe in your system? Have you ran any biodiesel in your fuel hoses that aren?t j30r9 rated? If so the hoses could be breaking down after a couple of years on biodiesel.
