I believe I have a bad batch of wvo in my tank. I have been purging and turning the car off as I should.
Later when I return to start the car I am having problems starting it and once its running wants to stall out but straightens out after I floor it a few times in park.
I imagine I have a rancid batch of wvo since the car runs fine on diesel.
What is the best way of removing the wvo from the tank?
Figured i'd start with that.

"having problems starting it and once its running wants to stall out but straightens out after I floor it a few times in park"
Would this means the wvo is OK if the engine runs fine after you floor it a few time?
Did your purge system worked properly? Did your purge it long enough? If not sure, try drive it in diesel 2-3 minutes after purge and then shut off. And see if the problem happen again.

Needs more info!!!!
Did you have stumble, loss power on accel symptom while running on veggie?
What's the time duration between shut down after purge and the next start? Very short time or a few hours?
Once started did you have problem switch to and running on veggie?
The answers will help to tell whether you have air on veggie side.
If you have no air leak, after replacing the veggie filter, should do a long purge (until diesel come out in the veggie tank) to force all the air out.
Your described symptom sounds like you are starting a (not HOT) engine with veggie or partially veggie.
My two cents!

I didn't run the car on veggie last time I had the problem.  I changed the veg filter.  Did a purge for about a minuite then made a 10 minuite drive on diesel.  Turned off the car came out 2 hourds later and experienced the problem.  Most of the time the problem is in the morning after the car has been sitting a while.  It doesn't happen eveytime but 1 out of 5 to give a ratio.
I thought I may have gotten air into the line when I performed diesel purge 2 weeks ago. I replaced & filled all the filters and primed.  So kinda confused.

Haven't experienced loss of power on veggie.
Will plugging in the engine block  heater overnight speed up the process of bring the engine upto proper temp for veggie?
Thanks! Appreciate the 2 cents.

I pumped to oil out of the tank in the back of the car and found a thick film on the bottom...Algae?  What should be the next step?

So assuming your purging system worked properly and after purging you drive in diesel for at least 3 minutes, the next start up you should start in 100% diesel and you have problem to start.
That's something on the diesel side, air in system or something else/sensors???? You needs some input from TDI guy. Sorry I am not familiar with TDI.
IMO, your problem is not related to veggie.
About the stuff at the bottom of the veggie tank, just open up the access cover and try to clean the tank.

Thanks.
No sensor or tdi.  Just classic benz.
bvIt's either air or a lift pump that will soon need replacing.
Yeah cleaned the tank.  It was hell getting it open.  The six point hex head screws were a bad choice by someone.  The heat really sealed them in there and was hell getting them free.
Once open found a lot of greenish golden gel coating the bottom and copper coil.
All is good on the veg side...Tank looks like new now.

whether or not the bad fuel is the source of the problem, I'd like to say that I think it's a good idea to drain and clean your tank every once in a while.  Crap can grow in there. Even if you filter really well, you're likely to have some sediment buildup over time.  That is why I like to have a convenient way to drain and clean a tank.
another thing I like to do every once in a while is fill the WVO tank with B100 biodiesel and burn a tank full of that.  I find that WVO builds up layers on the inside of the tank (and presumably the fuel lines) especially if it sits for a while.  the B100 is a good solvent and can clean things out pretty good.
I remember one time my WVO system was not working.  It seemed like it had no air coming in so my only other thought was a clog in the fuel line.  I ran a tank of B100 through the system and it worked fine after that.

I just had my tank open. 7 mos and no poly no gunk sides and bottom spotless. Copper coil looked new. Only problem is around fill cap. If your getting d2 with algae or bacteria it gets in bottom of wvo tank on purge. Algae is a real problem to get rid of once its in the diesel tank tank need to come out and pressure wash. Smaller gas stations get algae growth from fuel sitting too long. Fuel at a high volume truck stop the fuel is cleaner.
