i never did. i am glad i didn't too. i took it to a mechanic and it turns out the piston in the rotary part of the pump was cracked in half and after it was replaced the low pressure side of the pump stopped working. so now i had to order whole new pump. even though it costs a bit more than i had hoped to spend to fix the car, it is still better than having to make payments on a new car that gets terrible mileage.

volkswaparts.com seems to be least expensive.
So did you go into to it to change that seal? It's really not too bad a job, but the pump does need to be removed.
