Cleaning EZ-strainers

I'm using EZ-strainers to pre-filter the oil before settling in a 55 gal drum. My question is: how are people cleaning them?
Currently I'm using a plastic spatula to remove the big stuff, putting that into the compost, and spraying a hose in the reverse direction to get the rest of the gunk out. I can see my yard getting very greasy in the future if I continue spray-cleaning the oil out onto the ground. On top of that, I don't want to be spraying a cold hose outside in sub-zero termperatures this winter (I live in MA).
Any thoughts on a better way to clean these things?

I guess clean out the chunks and throw it in dishwasher. Wash tub in garage with warm watter and purple power. Take them to self serve car wash.
