We're new to the greasy crowd and are looking at purchasing an RV already converted, or convert our own diesel bus/RV. The purpose is for a 2-3 month trip across the midwest and west. It would be a partially business and partially recreational trip.
My concern is that with this being sometime between November and February, how can I maximize my success at collecting WVO on the road.
One idea I have is: having some sort of hight heat element that sticks out from the hose used to suck out the grease, so that it melts the grease right before sucking it up. Am I being naive? Any other ideas?

Having a heating wand on hand is an excellent idea for pumping solid oil. Whatever you do, get a good pump with fat hoses. Many of us have spent 100s on little 12v pumps(and 120v) only to have them clog up, blow fuses etc. Check out a cold weather test video on our Monster Pump.
On a steel container clean a spot on the outside of any grease. And heat it with a propane torch. Makes a nice warm spot to pump from.
I have a vacuum sucker. That baby will suck jello in January!
Dont know how you guys do it in winter. Just got to Peoria il. Way to cold and windy here to ever think of collecting oil. Headed back to savannah were its still nice and warm and the oil flows smooth.
