Greasecar / Madhouse Mini's Project
The latest project is a cross promotional car with Madhouse Minis and was premiered at this year's Tour De Sol Organized by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (www.nesea.org).
The motor shoe-horned into the Mini is a Peugeot 1.5 liter diesel engine out of a '96 Rover Metro. The car competed in the 18th annual Tour de Sol and took 1st place in the Production Alternative Fueled Vehicle class and third place overall. The car was built in under 10 weeks as a full bare shell restoration and modification. Fitting the Peugeot diesel and Metro subframe required numerous modifications, including lengthening the nose.
Madhouse Minis is exploring the possibility of producing more Greasecar powered diesel Minis built to order based on brand new reproduction body shells and modernized interiors. This is an opportunity to drive a fuel efficient alternative fueled vehicle with modern drivability and classic charm.
