I have a grease car system in my 1986 Mercedes 190d. I just bought the car and the veggie system was already installed (it is from greasecar) .Here is what is happening:

When i push the switch to turn it on the led (red) doesn't light up on the switch. But the system was still working because it went through a tank of fuel.
But recently, after pushing the switch, the oil temp gauge never shows the temp climb, it just continues to say low temp.
Once it happened that without pushing the button, the oil temp started climbing and showing the heater was working. I have a feeling the problem is at the switch but was wondering if this sounds like a common symptom of something. Im going to start troubleshooting but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions before I tore into it?
Thanks!
jon

In diesel mode both valves A and B are not energized. Should have no power at both valves.
In veggie mode both valves A and B are energized. Should have power at both valves.
In purge mode only valve B is energized. Should have power at valve B only.
Make sure the grounds for both valves are good.
If power fails to get to valve, switch or wiring problem.
If valve fails to energize with power or the solenoid  energizes but valve stucked, valve problem.
Good Luck!

You get a good disribed solution already, but I think that there might be a problem og loose or wrong connection of wires.

Thanks,
I suspect it is the wiring as the previous owner did a nice hack job installation and I found a bunch of wires crunched. Can i purchase a new wiring harness (for 86 mercedes sedan)?

Just check the continuty of the wires with the multimeter and the If found any break then go for the new one, rather than directly going for th enew one.

I didn’t face this problem yet but as I got my new car so I’m just trying to know or learn about the led-light on issue in the switch. Probably it was happened due to loose connection of electrical cable on the system. Nowadays from our home to our office we are 80% dependable on electric. It may be the question about safety or urgency, we need 100% satisfaction. The presence of the electrician service has made it even easier as the company has been extremely professional about any electrical matter that you do not need to worry about your electrical construction any more.
